Danowski Breaks Mark, Blue Devils Roll

Fortunately for top-ranked Duke, there is no New York Times jinx. The same day the Blue Devils were featured as the lead sports story in the Gray Lady, they advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament with a 12-7 win over Loyola in Koskinen Stadium. In the win, senior Matt Danowski broke the NCAA’s all-time scoring record with two goals and five assists.

We’ll have more coverage in our first summer issue, which hits newstands Thursday. Look for a recap of this game and a preview of the quarterfinal matchup against Ohio State. Duke’s next game is next Sunday in Ithaca, N.Y.
